Organic hair salons

Organic hair salons are hard to come by these days. A chemical free place with healthy hairdressers and non toxic products. Working with the strong chemicals in a hairsalon has proven to give many stylists asthma and allergies and can even cause birth defects in babies. I think we should all consider what we are actually using and start questioning the producers of the products and maybe abandon those who refuse to listen. If a large part of the salons would turn to greener alternatives I am very sure that the big companies would start looking their way. The consumers lead the market and as long as we purchase the harmful products they will continue to produce them.

The same goes for clients. Refuse the chemical treatments unless you can find an organic alternative and only purchase certified organic products. Be careful when shopping and look for certification labels as many products today say they are natural and organic but really aren't. Look at the content of the product. A good rule is if you can't read it, you should probably not use it.

Let's all turn our back to the harmful chemicals and treat our bodies with the respect they deserve, and work towards a better environment.

Please spread this message to whomever you can, together we can create change!

I would love to hear your ideas and stories on the subject so please share them with me.

Detox update.

How to detox for a healthy lifestyle. I am still alive and kicking. A blister in my mouth, feeling hungover every morning and a bit fatigued, that's a small price to pay for becoming a healthy beauty if you ask me.

Check out www.myphyorganics.com to find out more about the detox I'm doing.

Why professional hair color?

How to color your hair. When it comes to color you are worth investing in. A professional hair salon color service starts with a consultation to determine the best color to suit your hair, your look and your lifestyle. Just picking the box with a picture of a pretty girl wearing the color you desire does not promise you much.

Each hair is different and will adapt to color in a different way. A trained professional have years of experience and is trained in the science of hair and the techniques to achieve the best appearance and physical condition of the hair.

It definitely is a worthwhile investment in yourself and your fabulous look to go to a professional hair salon and get pampered.

Organic shampoo for dry hair

Certified organic hair care. Favourite product or not. Everything with harmful chemicals went in the bin and out the door. My new fabulous green clean bathroom is now filled with natural organic products and here is a new favourite.

The organic desert flower shampoo is very mild and contains yucca juice and polyglucose to gently cleanse the hair while panthenol moisturises. Organic avocado oil restores lustre and hydrates dry and damaged ends, and organic herbs add sheen and body.

When I first started using the shampoo my hair got really tousled up which is normal. This happens as the hair is detoxing and needs to get rid of all the synthetic chemicals previously added. After a few washes my hair is now looking silky and smooth and my scalp feels better than ever.

To help detangle and strengthen my locks I always use the miessence hair repair which also rebuilds the hairs elasticity.

Chemicals in beauty products

What are the chemicals and toxins we expose ourselves to daily doing to our bodies? Many of the beauty products such as hair, skin and body care and cosmetics as well as the food we eat contain well known carcinogens and are highly toxic. The daily dosage is fairly small but we still don’t know about the awaiting accumulative effects.

Extracts from Dangerous beauty, cosmetics and personal care by Peter Dingle & Toni Brown.
This book is an eye opening experience to what we are actually exposing ourselves on a daily basis.

"Slow poisoning (accumulation)

Slow or chronic posioning can occur in two main ways. The most obvious way is by the slow accumulation of chemicals in the body. And this is quite possible with shampoos. Although the body has an excretory system to metabolize and filter out unwanted toxins, the rate at which the body absorbs them is often faster than the rate at which they can be excreted. Accumulation continues until the concentrations in the blood are high enough to toxicity and severe injury."

"The areas of greatest absorption are the scalp and other areas of body hair (because of the greater number and size of hair follicles), and areas of the body where the skin is thinner, such as the forehead, the insides of arms and thighs, the eyelids and eye area, the breasts and abdomen."

"Long term toxic effects of personal care products include blood and organ damage, damage to embryonic tissues and DNA, oestrogenicity, and carcinogenic effects."

Take care of yourself and learn more about what the products you use every day contain and the possible dangers of using them.

Care for your extensions

Look good in the best home made hair extensions. Long lasting result with proper care.

The first thought that comes to mind for most people when they think about taking proper care of hair extensions is how it is extremely difficult. This, however, is not the case. Taking proper care of your hair extensions is actually quite easy. There are a few easy things that you can do that will keep your hair extensions looking great for a long time.

The first thing that you should remember to do is to wait a few days before your wash your hair after you first get your hair extensions. The reason for this is that it takes a while for the extensions to completely bond to your hair and the act of washing your hair so soon after they are put into your hair can create issues with the hold. However, once this period of time is over you can wash your hair as often as you like.

Properly washing and conditioning your hair when you have hair extensions is vital to maintaining the look that you want. Because hair extensions are not growing like natural hair, they do not produce their own oils. As a result, it is necessary to use a quality leave in conditioner to keep the hair extensions looking vibrant and beautiful. Making sure that your hair extensions are properly moisturized and conditioned will lead to long lasting hair extensions.

Just because they need to be maintained does not mean you cannot do anything with your hair extensions. In fact, it is quite the contrary. As long as your hair extensions are maintained well, you can do just about anything with them. You can style them with different products, curl them, straighten them, or do anything that you want. Hair extensions can even be dyed if desired. Dying hair extensions, however, can be tricky because hair extensions and your natural hair may take dye differently which may result in a look that is undesired.

With proper maintenance and care, hair extensions can last a very long time. Maintaining hair extensions is not as difficult as is commonly thought, but it does require some time and effort on the part of the wearer. The result of caring for your hair extensions, however, is more than worth the small investment required in order to maintain them.  With the proper care, your hair extensions will continue to look great and provide the look that you intend for an extended period of time.

Hair - Leave in spray conditioner

A leave in conditioning spray for dry and tousled locks. Detangle, defrizz and moisturize with miessence hair repair, my all time favourite. A leave in conditioner and strengthening treatment. Panthenol provides long lasting moisturization, imparts lustre and conditions the hair. Organic rosehip seed oil moisturizes and softens dry, brittle ends. Organic herbals help rebuild strength and body.

As well as providing long lasting moisturization and building strength and body, Protect Hair Repair will help to detangle and smooth your hair.
